School reopened. Present 6 boys and 8 girls
New pupil George McLary (Secondary)
A change has taken place in the arrangements of the Tenui [Tinui] School. The late master, Mr Barry has departed from among us. On Saturday last his furniture, Ac., was sold by auction by Mr J. lorns, the first proper auction held in the district, the attendance was numerous and good prices were realised. We may congratulate Mr lorns on his success as an auctioneer. As a pleasant neighbor Mr Barry was liked by everyone, and while we regret his departure, we wish him success.

Admitted Charles Rogers Ohanga [Aohanga?] as a pupil. (boarder)
It appears that new teacher has taken over: Charlotte Fanny Scale, nee Holmes, born 1847 in Derbyshire, died 1940 in Auckland, aged 93.
New pupil Kate O’Donnell
The Tenui School under Mrs. Scales was in good working order, and the results reflected great credit upon both the late master and the present mistress.
