Tinui School logbook - 1872-1880

The principal's/teacher's log book was a record of activities and changes within Tinui School - it included:

• Communication with Wellington Education Board (included building arrangements, funding, teacher placement, etc.

• Discussions with Tinui School Committee, including decisions made, problems to be overcome and the outcome of these discussions. (Some school committees were more helpful than others.)

• When a new student started the name was recorded in the logbook, as were disciplinary, progress (or lack thereof), health issues, etc. 

• Tinui School logbook was transcribed by Masterton principal Robin Carlyon, along with school logs from most schools within the Wellington Education Board. This was a huge project and we are especially grateful to Robin for this work. 

• The logbook is interspersed with news items about Tinui School.
